When I try to login it is loading like forever...meanwhile these 2 errors appear in the apache error log.

And a couple of 500 internal server errors in the access log while trying to reach the rankings:

Is it possible to fix these errors, or thats just how the free version works?

Those errors means you didnti nstall drivers properly.please re-try to install

Install http://fixdll.info/download/13180_sqlsrv20.exe
And Install it like other to use it.
Example:When u extract it put all the files in C:\xamp\php\ext
Then go to php.ini in C:\xampp\php folder.
Search for PDO and add those 2 lines
extension=php_pdo_sqlsrv_53_nts_vc6.dllextension=php_pdo_sqlsrv_53_ts_vc6.dll
