Repack + details

Hello guys,
I have some question, and I would be glad if you could please help me a bit with some things.
So, I'm using Clean repack at this time and SQL 2005 on my home PC.
PC specifications:
-CPU: E6600 2,4GHz
-RAM: 3GB DDR2
-3x SATA disk 250GB
It's not configured for some nice server, but those are some kinda old components from minitower PC's.
So the first question would be, what OS should I use... atm I'm using Windows 7 Profesional 32bit, but I'm wondering if I could also use Windows Server 2008 or something. Or maybe Windows XP Profesional SP3. And what would be the difference if I use one or another ?

Secound question: As I already mentioned, I'm using clean repack. Is there maybe some better repack, witch I can download NORMALLY (no broken links and other isues) ?
I'm trying to add 3rd job system to my server, but the problem is, that when I was looking at some tutorial, it says that I need to open some.dat files with my .pk editor or something. Well my pk editor don't wanna open .dat files, so I have no idea how to insert those files in my server so that it would work as it should. Maybe someone have some deeper explation about that and so ? I checked at forum and was looking for it for wery long time, and now I gave up and am here to ask you for it.

Another question: It's abot Player SQL table. What are values for char job change ? I was trying to put some random numbers but not rly luck with that.

One more think: My friend would also like to help me on that project, but I don't know what is teh best way, to give them access to my "server" computer.


Well I'm expecting some peoples to say that I should look deeper in the forum, but belive it or not, I was searching for answers on that in this forum + google for about 5 hours.
Any kind of advice/support would be wery nice

You set wrong kind at InitNPC. As far I remember 3 is for quests. Set it to 0 or 1 (can't remember ).

Tested both ... 0 and 1 and nothing changes

If you changed quest index to 100002 do it the same at .dat file

Ah damn ... idk how I missed that ^^
But the problem is still here.
After I changed 1337 to 100002, I again tried to change kind on all possible numbers but still looks like statue + NULL + nothing happened when I click on it.
Any other idea ?

Try to delete html's with normal names. I think that won't work, try with s000xxx.dat ones.

tried that aswell ... still no effect :\

Paste it and check if it works correctly.

Now I got my starter NPC and works like it have to be working.

make sure that every Npc have it's own name in the config.pk / message-e.dat
