Can't you do that already? Is there any reason to give Db credentials?

I suppose you already have some web admin tool, create a function to return for example online players and give the URL to your friends to post in their A3 blog or anything.

Does that require to give them db credentials?

I said APIs because using this my friend can use the JSON data returned by the APIs and display it in his site as he wants. If I give the current URL he can just display it using iframe or something. Also he cant store the data from my database to his database etc etc.
