Hey all,

I'm working on reviving Riding Club Championships (RCC), the ArtPlant equestrian MMO that ran 2008–2011 before shutting down without any real announcement (the later Steam/Facebook remake by Toadman Interactive met the same fate in June 2025 - also shut down quietly, only confirmed weeks later).

The game:

  • Gamebryo 2.3 engine, PhysX integration
  • Quazal middleware - used only for matchmaking/login, not full game networking
  • 2008 commercial release CD in hand and running locally (exe launches fine, assets intact but stays on the login screen)
Server side:
The foundation here is ProUser67's project - he's the one who reverse engineered RCC's Quazal implementation far enough to get account creation and login partially working. He's moved on to focus on other priorities and doesn't have time to keep pushing RCC forward himself, so with his groundwork as a base, I'm picking up where he left off and coordinating the next steps publicly instead of it living in one person's backlog.

Current status:

  • Account registration: working
  • Login: partially working
  • Blocked at: post-login data - the server doesn't yet return profile/stats data, and the friend system implementation is incomplete, which currently crashes the client shortly after login
The goal: a fully functional, open source private server for RCC - not a closed/gatekept revival. Once it's stable, the plan is to document the setup clearly enough that anyone can run it, not just people who already know Quazal.

What I could use help with:

  • Anyone with Quazal/RMC protocol experience, especially around friend-list/profile data services
  • Anyone who still has an old RCC install from 2009–2011 - the Cross Country and Dressage modes were post-launch downloadable updates and are still lost media as far as we know
  • General C# hands willing to look at server logs and packet traces with me
I'm attaching the notes as well, which ProUser helped write as accurately as possible. For private contact via discord. you will find me on the community discord:

The game is semi-playable thanks to once again the user Hazza from ResHax, though a lot of things simply do not work at all or don't work as intended due to it running singleplayer ^^' Another member offered hosting for an online multiplayer server so fingers crossed we will have the first online private server for RCC! A former ArtPlant employee joined the discord to support us
