Set up FlyCMS

Hello ragezoner's and welcome to my new guide! Today, I show you how to set up FlyCMS! It's really easy, you just have to read the guide exactly

So, let's begin!

Step 1: Download FlyCMS

Download the newest, awesome version of FlyCMS, created by SyNTaX12:

Step 2: Download Xampp

Download Xampp Lite, Xampp Lite is a portable version of Xampp. But what is meant with "portable"? Portable programs are better than the "installer" programs, you can run portable programs without an installation, so you may put it on a flash drive or something like that. Awesome, eh? And btw, I prefer the .ZIP version of Xampp Lite:

Step 3: Download Navicat Lite

Navicat Lite is a freeware, Navicat is a MySQL manager, Navicat does its job really good! I only can suggest you to use Navicat to manage your Flyff database and and and... You'll need Navicat to execute the news-table for the FlyCMS.

Step 4: Get Xampp working

1. First of all, create a new folder on your desktop (*), for example "Xampp". Now, extract the downloaded .ZIP file to the Xampp folder on your desktop. Done? Alright!
2. Be sure that you have closed all the processes like MySQL, Apache, FileZilla-Server and and and... This is important, if you forget to close a process, your Xampp installation will fail! So please check again, are all the processes closed now? Yes?
3. Please be sure that your computer has the ports 80 (for Apache) and 3306 (for MySQL) open. You can use the xampp-portcheck.exe to check the ports.
   If you're a vista-user, you should open the Data Execute Prevention (more informations

   ) and there you should add xampp-portcheck.exe to the list there, after adding the application to the list, you should restart your computer.
4. Alright, now you should start the setup_xampp.bat file. Now you must wait some seconds, after these seconds, you should get a message in the setup: "DONE!". Did you see this message? Yes? You're really good man!
5. Now you can start the application "xampp-control.exe". You should see now a window like this:

6. Now please click onetime (!) on the "Start"-button next to Apache, the "Start"-button should be now a "Stop"-button and you should see a message "Apache started [Port 80]"
   And now click onetime (!) on the "Start"-button next to MySQL and you should see a message like this: "MySQL started [Port 3306]"
7. Congratulations, your Xampp is now ready for use :]
   
   * = Only for Vista-users: Please don't put the Xampp folder to C:/Xampp/ or to C:/Program Files/Xampp/, don't ask why, it's a bit complicate.
   Read this for more informations about this vista-fail

Step 5: Config FlyCMS

First of all, extract please the FlyCMS. You should get now a folder named "FlyCMS", there should be 4 folders:

/FlyCMS/readme/
/FlyCMS/images/
/FlyCMS/includes/
/FlyCMS/sql/

and 3 .php files:

config.php
index.php
style.php

Now, open your Navicat and click on the big button "Connections" (

), fill the fields out please and test your connection. Done? Alright, now go to your flyff database (

) and execute the .sql file in the .sql folder of FlyCMS (path = /FlyCMS/sql/). If you reload the database on the right side of Navicat, you should see a new table called cms_news.

Getting the site work

Well, here's the steps to get this CMS to work:

Step 1.

Edit the config.php in the main folder to whatever you desire.
Make sure you fill out the database information correctly!
Other than that, just read what everything does and edit them.

Step 2.

Upload/move the folder to your web directory/web host and try to
access it. Encountered a problem? Report it in the FlyCMS thread

Step 3.

Enjoy your CMS! It was as easy as that ;]

Getting news to work

So, you want the news system, then? That's fairly easy..

Step 1.

Make sure you $show_news value is set to 1 in the config.php!

Step 2.

Go to the sql folder and execute the cms_news.sql script in there.

Step 3.

Log in to the CMS, navigate to the Admin CP and click on 'News'.
Then simply click on 'Add news' and you're ready to start!

Step 6: Set up FlyCMS

Now, open your Xampp folder please, then go to the folder "htdocs" (this is the path: /Xampp/htdocs/), create there a new folder, for example "home" (this is the new path: /Xampp/htdocs/home/).
Drag and drop all the FlyCMS files in this new created folder, it should look now like

Final Step

Start your webbrowser and type this in the URL:

You should see now the site, congratulations man, your FlyCMS is working!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Question: Why the new created accounts get banned after register?

Answer: There was a little issue with the accounts table, download this accounts table, make a backup of your old ones, delete your old accounts table and use mine, it should work. I recommend you to use mine accounts, characters & guilds tables, with these tables all should work correctly.

i use Wamp server and i cant see the code of register and the questions don't work (always said wrong answer). i can't fix that. i edit all and don't see any problem...

The CMS doesn't work well with wamp the best thing to do is switch to xampp...Everthing works fine with xampp.

The answer to that is yes I was having the same problem with registering and when I switched to xampp it worked fine.

Yeah,I had Wamp and when I switched to Xamp it fixed everything :]
And I like Xamp better o:
It lets us put any name after our IP so it looks like an actual website instead of just numbers xD

don't forget about xammplite. it is a more easier setup for casual web server operators. and the best part? Its portable. I put it on my flash drive and use it to show my portfolio to my clients.

I see some error's in your config.php. You mustn't edit the $part of a line:

That must be different:

Uhrm, I don't understand you really, if you put your hamachi IP in the URL (for example:

), then it will redirect you to your localhost (

The accesslevel? Click on the menu bar in your FlyCMS on RANKING, there you should see all the users, for example:

(GM) = accesslevel 1000 = admin
(GM) = accesslevel 800 = GM
