1. Applications needed to run a server with eDataServer
  • eDataServer
  • ChatServeR (currently not included)
  • GameServer (one or more)

2. Configuration
To create an DNS for ODBC do the following:

Start->Run->odbcad32.exe
Here click the "System DNS" tab the click the "Add..." button. A list of data sources type will appear, there scroll down and select SQL Server, after this a configuration wizard will appear...

Name: any name you want, you will have change it in the eDS .ini where you see (*replaceable*)
Description: you can leave it blank
Server: type "(local)" [without quotes].

Click the "Next" button...

The wizard will ask you to choose the authentication method, choose "With SQL Server" and type the ID and password (mostly "sa" and your password).

Click the "Next" button...

Here "check" the "change the default database" and of course select the specific DB for your DNS.

Click the "Next" button...

Here are some advanced settings (only for advanced users), in our case, skip then and press the "Finish" button.

Click "Test the data source" if it's OK a box with the diagnostics should appear and the click the "OK" button, if you get an error you haven't followed the steps correctly.

Code:
 [SQL]
MuOnlineDNS = MuOnline (*replaceable*)
MeMuOnlineDNS = MuOnlineJoinDB (*replaceable*)
EventDNS = MU2003_EVENT_DB (*replaceable*)
RankingDNS = Ranking (*replaceable*)
In case you are using different names for the system DNS for ODBC just change the names above with your own.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Code:
 UseMD5Encrypt = 0
Change its value to 1 if you are using a DB with MD5 encryption.

3. Ports that need to be opened to ensure 100% functionality including mu-mail and chat functions.

Code:
TCP    44405
TCP    55901
TCP    55919
TCP    55906
TCP    55980
