For this guide to work u must 1'st have a fully working 1.02d server already on your PC.
I recommand the folowing minimum requirements so the servers won't lag/crash:
CPU: Intel (2000Mhz or better)/AMD (2200+ or better)
RAM: At least 1GB
Swap file(virtual memory): 3GB default and up to 4GB max.

If u meet those requirements u can safely follow the next guide.

1) Make a directory on the same hard drive as your main server, name it Subserver or whatever you want (ex. c:\Subserver\ or d:\Subserver depending on what setup u have for your server)

2)Copy the Data and GameServer directories from the main server and paste them in the \Subserver\ directory, so your subserver directory root looks like this:

\Subserver\Data
\Subserver\GameServer

3)In the main server files go and edit:

\muserver\cs\CSConfig.ini like this:

; Version is:
; 0 - For Version 0.97
; 1 - For Version 1.02

[General]
Port=44405
Version=1

[Server0]
Sub0=your WAN/LAN IP:55901
Sub1=your WAN/LAN IP:55902 <--------- make sure u put 2 here.
Sub2=
Sub3=
Sub4=
Sub5=

[Server1]
Sub0=
Sub1=
Sub2=
Sub3=
Sub4=
Sub5=

[Server2]
Sub0=
Sub1=
Sub2=
Sub3=
Sub4=
Sub5=

[Server3]
Sub0=
Sub1=
Sub2=
Sub3=
Sub4=
Sub5=

[Server4]
Sub0=
Sub1=
Sub2=
Sub3=
Sub4=
Sub5=

4) Also edit \muserver\Data\IpList.dat like this:

//IpList
"your WAN/LAN IP"
"your WAN/LAN IP"

5)Now go to your subserver directory and edit:

\Subserver\Data\IpList.dat like this:

//IpList
"your WAN/LAN IP"
"your WAN/LAN IP"

and

\Subserver\Data\ServerInfo.dat like this:

[GameServerInfo]
ServerName = Subserver name (different from the main server one)
ServerCode = 1 <------- this is very important to be 1 on subserver
ConnectMemberLoad = 0;

6)Go to \subserver\GameServer\gsloader.gsl and edit it the last port like this:

#GSLoader Configuration File
Version=1.02

DisplayName=GSLoader
Filename=gameserver.exe
Filesize=422893
Arguments= your lan/wan IP 55970 your lan/wan IP 55960 55902

7) Now start your mainserver (wait till it's fully loaded and operational) then go to \Subserver\Gameserver\ and run your GSLoader.exe file.

8)If u followed this guide corectly u should now have a fully functional subserver.

Congrats!!!

For everyone who tries this guide, be advised;

After running a second subserver, your CPU usage will go up to 100% (even if you have a 2x2,8 GHZ dual XEON PC, with 2 GB's Ram.

Tested and all worked fine, except second gameserver takes up 80% (5 users) cpu while main gameserver takes only like 15% (50-60 users). I've read on some other forum that someone had similar problem even with subserver installed on other machine. Any ideas how to fix this? :crash:

can you add screenshoots what will be the output of the guide look like?

i dnt know if im looking at the right post but i want my server selection look like this:

My Server
|---------Connect to my server.

thnx.

thx for the guide ...I try it and it's working good.....
Byt can you tell me how can I make that in the subserver to be much difference....Like making new account's for it...in such way that in server 2 the account can't work in server one.....maybe something like the same account..but when people wnter either one to not have the same caracter lvl and bla bla bla....to be differente...like an example:
I have in server 1 a DW and is server 2 a DK...to make it that way...like if I have a DW in first ,to not see it in second one....I am sure u undestood.........
THX

Read this. This is because the database is being accessed from 2 same physical memory addresses. Windows doesn't know how to divide ;)

6)Go to \subserver\GameServer\gsloader.gsl and edit it the last port like this:

I don't have the loader, just the gs.exe ect

I already had a expirience with making subserver but last time he was on remote pc. So i'll describe my problem a little bit short. My config.
In connectserver files i wrote internat IP (127.0.0.1)
IpList.txt:

"127.0.0.1"
"127.0.0.1"
"127.0.01"
yes 3 times. dont know why ))

gsloader with internal ip and changed ports for subserver. all working ok but here comes ONE BIG FAT PROBLEM :) - settting reading from main server data folder. I erased all monster on subserver but they are still on the subserver. Enabled trade on subserver and disabled at main but trade don't work coz he is disabled on main server and etc. any ideas? subserver located in d:\Muserver\sub2

starting server through mu server start up gs links with internal ip. think i just missconfigured ips somewhere. any ideas?

Check your links, they surely point to the main server .exe files, and not to the sub ones.

Re: [Guide] Setup a subserver on same PC as main server.

How do you set up a subserver on 1.02Q server, without interfering with the main server? Because i copied the folder and renamed it to Subserver, and also i created a new database for it, however when i start it up, it goes to the gameserver and says you cant start up 2 servers at once. So i dont know whats going on. the Version of MU that im using is 1.02Q(Season2). Can anyone help me on this, thx!!:irvine:
