Hello everyone,

I am very excited to share the server and client files for *Iris Online*, which have been modified to run seamlessly on Windows 11.

I have also updated the server to run using the 127.0.0.1 IP address and switched to a different database system.

!! Need ODBC Mariadb !!

I hope you all enjoy it!

Feel free to ask any questions here.

I think the source in the bundle isn't the one the v1.20 server was built from. RELEASE_INFO.txt says IRIS_Server_v1.20_Release_20260923 was built from D:\MyCode\iris-game\Source\IRIS_SERVER_1.20 (and mentions IRIS_CODE_1.2\tools\build\graceful_stop.py), but the bundled source is IRIS_CODE (VERSION_HEADER 1.18, BUILD_NUM 18061) with no tools folder. Its own SWorking\IrisGameSrv.exe (built 2026-09-10, 1,942,016 bytes) calls 220 stored procedures, while the released IrisGameSrv.exe (built 2026-09-23, 2,385,408 bytes) calls 274. The extra ones include GP_GUILDSKILL_ADD, GP_GUILD_LEVELUP, GP_GUILD_DEPOSIT and GP_GUILDINVEN_*, and none of those exist anywhere in the bundled source. I also check the other post you made that sharing source code, it's the same thing bundled here.

Could you share the IRIS_CODE_1.2 / IRIS_SERVER_1.20 source you compiled the release from? I'd like to fix a guild skill bug. Thanks!

what guild skill bug ?

what guild skill bug ?
when i use GM client, i level up my guild to max level, 65, then when i spend the skill point for guild skill, it stuck can't pass more than level 2, i used claude code to try fixing this bug, and it said that it need the source of server files because when comparing the source you give with the ready to run compiled server files, it have different version and have some procedure and function missing on source compared the one already compiled by you. thats why I ask you if you can share the correct server files, i will also post what i fix if i found new bug here so we can keep updating the game free from bugs. Thanks.

I am working with the 1.18 source files from the other tread. Got them compiled with latest vs 2026 build tools + cmake, d3dx9, and gamebryo2.6 (testing 3.2).

How does this release differ from the 1.18 in other thread?

I recompiled everything and have no issues with servers starting and running or basic functionality in game. Have not tested past basic functionality.

Using Claude Code, obviously, so it already caught some discrepancies between different GAMEDB sql files too, but from both have a full working DB.

So that is why I am wondering how different this will be from 1.18 and whether I should restart with this or just find the differences and merge them into my code.

I'll need to clean it up and export it but yes I can do that.

If you are using Claude you can let it compare the two SQL files for GAMEDB (regular and _LATEST) and have it run it against the source code.
In my case Claude used regular SQL as starting point, pulled from tables and SPs from _LATEST, and then adjusted few SP and tables to fit the source code.
As last step I had it generate missing SPs based on source code and it did with few tests that need to be done.

Here is the SQL for what I mentioned above.

I have abandoned the idea of migrating from GameBryo2.6 to 3.2 and instead will probably have Claude start on migrating the client godot or similar to fully modernize this and make it cross-platform compatible. This will be quite a huge modernization step so putting it at the very tail end of the project.

Claude found some interesting findings that make this game pretty vulnerable not just from the point of exposing servers but from cheating, so those will be addresses first as the logic will translate to later rebuild and modernization effort.

From fun things that were done. Dynamic/resizable game window size. Heap of visual quality options (antialiasing, shadows, lighting, etc), none of which were added to game settings UI but are configurable from option.txt
Dropping .pack, launcher, patchet, and replacing with a modern manifest based patching. Still working out launcher visual/skin kinks but process works.
All unnecessary obfuscations are removed (e.g. client launches with plain IP and not PORT xored integer value of IP). Claude has also helped bring existing packet encryption through all servers, not just login and fixed few obvious bugs that could let others join another session, but I stopped there with the recommended future migration to TLS or Ed25519 key pair implementation into existing C++ code.

Gotta love what possibilities Claude and other similar AI/LLM tools open up for these older MMOs.
