You've got to start googling and understanding basics, instead of asking for guide on every single thing, which newbies in cabal shouldn't even consider touching.

I've started to notice a pattern that people jump above their level and knowledge.

Learn basics and then jump into stuff like this.

Explanation on how to hook a dll you can find in the comments and about 50k pages on Google, but if someone will try to help, there will be another tens of requests of "guide for a guide in a guide of a guide".

If there is a clear and clear tutorial, I think everyone will not ask the same thing over and over again. Learn to do until you can, everyone is started in that stage. Don't just base on the guide, but use Google instead if something is bugging you with it.

I understand what you mean, but what I could add is the fact that it's extremely time consuming to make a clear tutorial (we are talking about tutorials for dummies, which people even tend to ignore to read fully and still ask questions that have been answered in the tutorial), not just because of the lack of understanding of terminology, but also a huge speculation about how things work and also language barrier, in quite a lot of cases people's English is not up to a level where they would understand correctly or could present their tutorial in correct English, sadly due to translations not being accurate, it comes across wrongly sometimes.

But overall, the process is simple:

0. LEARN EVERYTHING YOURSELF.
1. Learn basic terminology - this one is for complete newbies.
2. Learn the basic file structure, such as what scp = dec and other key things about the game editing.
3. Make a backup of any edit, even if it is 0 changed to 1.
4. Always, and I mean ALWAYS, make sure your spacing and other syntax elements are correct and nothing is missing or duplicated.
5. Check how the game reacts, if it crashes or if it it works - what changes.
6. Go through tutorials, threads and posts to see if you can find anything useful.
7. Post a thread in here with your issue, steps you've taken and what help you need.


DO NOT:
1. Download files and think you can start cabal server tomorrow and make money to buy a new car.
2. Ask how to open the game, because your windows AV blocked original exe.
3. Got into the game and ask "how to everything".


This will get you not only ignored, but possibly create a bad image overall, people will start to avoid you and you'll start earning warnings on Ragezone because of the constant spam and total ignorance of search function.


It takes a lot of understanding of files, how they work, what does what. Need to also learn the basics of programming and how to use specific programs, how they work and what they are for. Go through a lot of trial and error, with a simple pencil and paper notebook.
Most importantly- motivation and dedication to spend time to go through all of the available information that many people gave over the years.
The rest will become fairly straight forward and start to make sense.

(Just to read this post - a challenge to quite few people put there, so it's "quicker" to post "How to start cabal server" 20 times.)
