I believe him and kurosaki were both captains and were exiled for some reason. I don't know why he gave uruharu orders though, maybe Yamamoto had something to offer him?

Just a suggestion, but could we put the Bleach manga spoiler in white text or in another thread, this was orignally anime stuff, now everytime I come in here, I get spoiled on stuff way ahead instead of anime! ;o
