Hello,
Here's something for those of you who are interested but don't know how to set up a Lineage server: this one runs on Oracle VirtualBox.

Server IP: 192.168.1.30
Administrator
Password: Yamandu2026
Windows Server 2008 int
SQL 2008

It contains a few things you’ll find useful.
The C4 Chronicle: original, unmodified version

I have nothing against those who use Java to run this game, but it will never be the same as having a server with the original files.

Why virtualbox? And I’m not sure about your statement that Java will never compare to a server written in C. Of course, it’s your choice, but I wouldn’t make such a claim about these two solutions.

Hi,
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but as someone who’s been in the gaming industry for decades, one thing is crystal clear: Java on Windows, with a large number of users, lags a lot—and no one’s going to tell me otherwise. That doesn’t happen with C++, which is what offline games use. I work with Java and C++ on other games, but they run on Linux—and there, if Java runs well, it runs really well. I don’t use Java on Windows at all these days; maybe it’s improved a lot, but I don’t know.

Your opinion is subjective, just like the comparison between JAVA and C. Perhaps you still have those old notions about this. I ran tests, and even with 5k online, everything was stable. Also, you yourself write this: “maybe it’s improved a lot, but I don’t know.” Therefore, it’s better to refresh such knowledge before making such claims.
And the fact that you’ve been working in the gaming industry for decades and are making such claims indicates a questionable status. Perhaps that’s what was said back in 2010. I’m not looking for a conflict; everyone has the right to their own opinion, so I’m drawing conclusions based on what I see. No offense.

Like I told you, this is just my personal opinion. Still, if the original is based on C++, there must be a reason for it. I haven't worked with Java on Windows in years; when I did, it was with Aion, since back then there weren't any original files like there are now.
Best regards, and thanks for the chat

Thank you for sharing, even C4 is very old but it is always good to have something from the "official"...it plays and feels different than the java version, even the java version today is very playable but nothing beats the original.

Your vision is very outdated. This is a server in C, JAVA is now invincible and even better in some moments. So this is a controversial opinion.

It is not about C or Java, it is about how complete the package that play and feels, I have a server running with L2J Mobius essence 10.1 and play with my friend, it is very clear that even today L2J still has bugs and geodata never works like L2Off, you can still fall into an ocean from a random place and monster stuck at random corner even you have the geodata for the version of the server that you are running, and there are some features still missing.

Again, to each their own I guess.

I agree, you can endlessly discuss the good and the bad. All this is a polemic. I see that you are also in the topic and understand.

Java is dogshit and Oracle is not evil.:tttfg:
My opinion is subjective since I came from Aion.

It seems the client can't be started by just clicking the L2.exe.... is there any other method to start the client directly?
