Hey guys, In this Tutorial I'll be Teaching you how to Get That nice Rounded Model, Making it less and less Blocky, Giving you a smooth and Beautiful results.

Requierd Tools:

• Blender
• Basic Knowledge Using Blender
• Texture of a Weapon

Once you have all of the Above you're Set to go, So Let's start shell we?

Step (1):

Open Blender, Delete the Cube and Go to "Side View(NumPad 3)".

Step (2):

Load your Texture and Hit, "Space->Mesh->Cube" Like So:

Step (3):

Place the Cube On Top of your Texture, Then go to Edit mode, Also Switch to "Wireframe" Under "Draw Type" Like So:

Step (4):

Resize your Cube By Pressing "S" , Make it Very very small, Then Place it Where you want to Start Modeling from, Like So:

I'll be Starting from the Clip of my Weapon.

Step (5):

Hit the "B" Key and Select Every Side of Your Cube, Then Extrude("E Key->Region") Every Side, One By One, Meaning, First Select Side A and Extrude, then Select Side B and Extrude , Do that Untill Your finished product would look something like this:

What you did was Just Creating another Layer on top of your Cube, Making it a "Double Cube" OMG SO INTENSE!

Step (6):

Hit "B" and Select Every Vertice of your "Double Cube" Like So:

Step (7):

Hit "Alt" Key and Right-Click with your Mouse(And move your Mouse) on the Screen, You will get to the "3D-View" Like So:

Step (8):

Scale Your Selected vertices On the "X Axis(S->X)" If you're not In "Side View" Your "X Axis" will not be the "X" Key So make sure you're In "Side View", Scale it all the way down, Like So:

Step (9):

Go back to "Side View"(NumPad 3)
Select("B" Key) The right Side vertices and move them("G" Key) to fit your Texture Like So:

Step (10):

Select("B" Key) The top vertices of your Cube and Extrude("E Key->Region") them Up, After you Press ("E Key->Region") It'll automatically Set the angle, What you need to do is to Right Click with your Mouse on the Screen to Shake it off And move("G" Key) Your Extruded vertices On top of your Texture Like So:

Step (11):

Keep Extruding Untill you reach the End of the Part you're Modeling which in my Case is the end of the Clip, Remember to Take At least two or Three breaks when Extruding so you'll have more options to Rotate and just to make it look Better Like So:

Step (12):

Once you're Done with Part 11 Hit "A Key" to Select all, Then Hit "Alt Key" and "Right Click" with your Mouse to go into "3D View", Once you're there you will see that your model is Really thin Scale it, make it Thicker ("S->X" Keys) Like So:

Step (13):

We're allmost finished, Now your Creativity kicks in, Try to make it look Rounder by Scaling it to the Sides, bottom and up, It's basicly up to you and your Creativity, Here is my Final Product:

Extra Bonus:

• The Texture i've used in this Tutorial(Since i know it'll Help you guys):

• Blender Keyboard Shortcuts:

That's it, I hope you Enjoyed my Tutorial and I hope you would learn from it, Good Luck and Go try it out, it might look Hard but it's really easy.

Not at all.
Because the Subdivide only goes with the Selection.
Selecting the Edges of the Sides and Subdividing will only subdivide the selected edges.

Theres a far easier way anyhow, using loops, ctrl+r.

I agree there are a lot of other Ways to Round models, yet this one is the one i use and it never fails, But each to his own. =]

wow.... this is an ok method.....

the better method is using loopcuts(ctrl r). they allow u to add a series of verts on any surface, but not subdivide as bad.... makes merging a whole ton easier...

With a good texture you won't even see a difference between a "smooth" and a "blocky" model in GunZ. Also, as said above, there are way easier ways of doing this but it's well explained anyways and nice try for the effort :)

nice tut RevolutioN, really good for newgen's who wanna learn blender

I don't get step 5

It's simple, just hit the "b"-key and you will be able to select specific vertices by dragging your cursor over them.
So you simply select 1 side (2 vertices in front view / 4 vertices in 3D view), for example the top and then hit "e" to extrude.
You repeat this with the other 3 sides and you should have a similar outcome as shown in the picture.
Hope this helped :)

Can you please tell me how to put gunz maps into blender?
So I can "travel" with the camera in the maps through blender?
I need it so badly.
