Two hosts?? <- HELP

Hi, i would like to host a server with my friend. Tho i cannot run during day he can, and he cannot run during night but i can. so we thought we could switch off somehow by sharing database, i already have my own server up with a few friends but i would like to know how to share so all the accounts are the same and all. would we have to share the querys, if so how?
