Sorry, guys, I just got Visual Basic 6, and I tried to install it by using the install program, but it wont allow me too. I get up to the ACMUpdate thingy and then it just ends. It gives me errors and stuff and wont let me do it. I am on a Windows Vista Home Basic, any suggestions?

Well If you have Trouble Getting your PAID Visual Basic 6.0 You Should Use The Support Section, Or Ask The People you Bought it From.

Other Than That... Then Yea..
Don't Use WAREZ!

Yh Hopefully You Bought Your VB6.

And Home Basic Is Quite Rubbish To Install Stuff On :/

So I Dont Really Know.

Laterz,
What Can I Say

LOL.
You guys only say 'Don't use warez' because you were stupid enough to buy your copy :D
No offense, but when it comes to getting free shizzle,
The best things in life are free.
Even if they're not supposed to be.

I wouldn't encourage Warez, but anyways. Here's the quite simplest trick ever, might work, who knows ^^;

1-Right click your installation .exe
2-Choose properties from the menu
3-Switch to the compatibility tab
4-Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
5-Choose Windows 2000 or XP (I know it works on XP)

...
And try again. I'm not sure if the compatibility trick works for Installers. (So if it's a MSI, which I doubt, well you're sewed).

Well I Don't Want To be A Goody-2-shoe but like getting Warez you Can Get Sued When They Find You. I Bought mine Like A While Back. I know There's lots Of Warez out There But If They FK Up your Computer Then u Can't Do Anything.

If you guys want to have a debate about Warez, take it to the debate section. I'm sure there's a thread on it already though.

Here is a link that may or may not help you, Setto--

visual basic 6 installed and run in VISTA? :: Omgili

It can be installed on Vista. They suggest running it under administrative privilidges (which is a no brainer), as well as using the latest service pack with it (though it was stated that older service packs run fine with it, I'd recommend getting the newest anyways).

Well my copy is warez just for the basic fact because I really couldn't be jacked buying a copy of ebay or something along those lines.

For all those people who say "Dont use warez" then I'm sure you download music from torrents, limewire or other P2P programs, so don't be a hypocrite but yeah I should get off this topic as DK said use the debate section.

As for your problem [on my version] install one at a time for example
Install VB6 from the setup > then install Active X controls (if you haven't already got the up to date ones) > and any other tools your using.

I only use the the 75mb one because it works fine for the projects I currently do, you may have the 300mb one etc so I'm not sure about that.

What error code is the main one?

Well, it installs perfectly until it goes to the ACM.exe part. Yes, I am under Administration rank. And yes, I got it from WaREZ.

LOL
Parker... Yea I Use Itunes And I Buy My Itunes Card So i never Use The BitTorrent Or The Limewire. All of Those Are p2p (Peer TO Peer).

A lot of people prefer Visual Basic 6.0 for two primary reasons--

1. It doesn't require the .NET framework
2. They prefer the older style of coding

There are converters to change 6.0 code to .NET, but we all know how shitty those are.

Also, he may not be able to create his own (I don't know him really, so maybe I'm wrong and you do know enough Visual Basic to make your own). Looking at other people's code is a good way to learn. He can fiddle with it and modify it accordingly and, if modified well, release it (if he leaves credit to the person who originally made it in there).
