ps: I'm french (qc)

Hi I'm a little java developper, I have a 1.29 dofus server on which I dev, but I just got interested in the idea of starting a Wakfu emulator and ps last week. The fact is there is maybe only one wakfu emulator that is kept totally private and his dev doesn't want to help me understand the wakfu protocol and all. And the Wakfu's client sources are obfucated, so it's hard to find what I'm searching for in it (mostly the packet parser/sender). So here I am, searching for a dev who could help and dev a wakfu emulator in team with me :)
I dev in java and have some knowledge in as2,as3 and delphi.

Link to my dofus 1.29 servers if you want :

Skype is "nexcrystal" if you want to contact me. I'm always in invisible mode so pm me even if I seem disconnected, at worst I will get the message later

I would say go ahead, but i played wakfu and they continuously change all aspects of the game. I highly don't recommend it and think you should either focus on dofus 1.29 or 2.0 to achieve perfection. Wakfu also has tons and tons of bugs and glitches un like any other game. They released an alpha game and tried to play it off as beta. I also still think dofus has alot more to offer then wakfu does in he long term.

Good luck

Could be a nice idea, since many of the features (including trade for some reason) requires you to pay for them, and not everyone is capable of doing so.

It would be a good idea, but as i said before the game completely changes mechanics every month. To try to keep up with there half ass updates and bad fixes, i guarantee to see development stop from frustrations.

I would probably keep only one version of the client and upload it for the players who want to go on the pserver. Then I could do the official updates at my own rythm.
Besides, my 1.29 emulator is already really great, my average uptime with 1xx-2xx players online is about 3 days and there's almost no bugs.
And I hate 2.0 so I won't go in that branch.
I started a new 1.29 emulator from scratch almost a month ago (my current one is based on ancestra remakre 47) to have a REALLY nice emulator, clean, without any bugs, fast, stable and all. But now that Wakfu has catched my attention.... :)

edit: I played dofus 1.29 for about 6years and I'm in the dofus emulation for now a year so I'm getting tired of it...and there's not much I can do more than what I've already done in dofus anyway ;;

edit2: The fact that Wakfu is pay-to-play also induced me to make an emulator for it so that everybody including me can play for free. Another thing is that the wakfu emulation is (almost) inexistant, so it's like a challenge, like I want to be one of the pioneers of that branch. Also, I think Wakfu is as nice as it looks (imo 100 times better than 2.0)

if you put it in that way, i can only see a better benefit. The only true doubt i had is the client itself. As for the server files will they be distributed or kept private? and will you be releasing the files for your dofus server xP

Essentially i thought the game was amazing back in closed beta, the game was really awesome. Had insane amount of equipment and the spells were fun. Hopefully you could grab that client and expand on that version since the newer version is completely **** and has errors and glitches at every turn. Plus they removed all the fun out of the beta edition that made the game fun to begin with.

good luck

Hello ! Im a french C# devlopper (people know me as Smarken) and I already started one 6 month ago, but as Omnija said, they change all aspects of the game in like every update so I think its not actually worth to work on this game. Also the code obfuscation change in every update so its really hard to find every changes. There is a screen of my work, but my emulator is out of date now .
I did a Java sandbox to get some informations about packets/game interactions and a C# emulator named Letal.
Sorry for my bad english !

I don't have the files of the beta and I don't know the difference between it and the current official game :P So I don't know how "awesome" it's supposed to be in comparison with today's wakfu. But I guess you could have easy equipment and if that's so, well you can already be sure there's going to be a bunch of NPCs on the server to distribute free equips and ressources (Like on every ps).
For my 1.29 emulator, it's something to consider on skype, but I know myself and no price can match mines (I won't give it).

There was a huge difference in beta and today, shame you don't have the client for it.
Good luck on the project.

I sort of wish to have access to better dofus files so i could host an amakna like server without membership. getting everything free and easy leveling ruins the game play, i enjoyed the game but paying for it every month just isn't worth it.

Maybe you could join the staff of one of my dofus ps? TicTak is a "fun/not-so-cheated" one and Elite pvp a kind of anka-like oriented for PVP (free items, xp in pvp, class sets...)
Or rent my emulator and a place on my dedicated server.

If i was going to rent your emulator and a dedicated server i might as well just pay the 7 bucks a month and play on the official.
