I really suggest implementing APC (if applicable) if you haven't.
I'm using that for my rendering:

But when I look at the script it looks every unorganized and the best thing I think I can do is write it in a class like holthelper did, going to have both version(class, non class script) in my release. :)

Best way is checking my code; has support for effects and such and isn't bound to per-item type rendering.
