What if MapleStory 62 was available for Mac? Would you guys play it? Upload it to your website and make it available for download?

Would the porter get sued by Nexon?

Ideas?

You've been mentioning the words "Maplestory" and "MAC" for the past few days/weeks.

It simply doesn't work.
Install BootCamp if you want to play Maplestory on a Mac.

That's not what I'm getting at. I've somewhat successfully ported MS v62 to Cider, and I was curious if people might want to use it.

Thanks Clutch. It opens the app fine, but apparently it doesn't load the exe and won't connect to the server. I'll tell you when I get something out of it.

aren't programs coded in an entirely different language on macs? like... do mac programs use .exe programs? i'm just curious, never dealt with it. if they don't, then that would mean someone would have to create a client for a Mac, which I can tell you right now.. won't happen. It's bad enough no one has done it for Windows, why would they do it for a Mac? I'll agree though that it would be pretty nice if it happened.

Cider changes all that. It creates a windows environment in order to let the exes run. If you open the contents of a cider app, you'll see a folder called Windows that has all the DirectX files, the fonts and the information on how to run EXEs.

Here's more info on it:

Thanks Shety, I've been working on this an my own server for a bit.

Define "somewhat" and "Successfully". Otherwise don't pull **** out of your ass. When you bought a mac you basically said "I don't like to use .exe files, so thus i can't play anything that runs on windows."

What does that even mean? Mac does some of the same languages that a typical linux, windows computer can i.e. java, c++.

No it doesn't, you can't run certain mmos on other oses besides windows for the following reason: gameguard and other shitty anti-hack devices. Wine hasn't broken that, nor has cider.

As I stated before. I am unsure if Macs can read .exe files. If they can't, then a new client would have to be made, which no one has even done WITH a .exe extension. If Macs can by default (without Bootcamp or this Cider they are talking about) read and run .exe files, then I fail to see why no one has made a pserver run on a Mac. Hopefully that cleared it up.

World's greatest inventions were missed because people believed it to already exist.
