Gotta say, before seeing this thread i always used notepad++ but I've now converted to sublime. Reading the text on a black bg is so much easier imo. Only issue I've run into so far is lack of a decent ftp plugin like the ones notepad++ has.

I have to day i dont like it. I prefer notepad++ good looking code, its hard to tell weather you have made a mistake or not in sublime imo
If you base your selection on what colors your syntax highlighting uses (which is configurable, anyway) there's no reason for you to use ST. :)

I must say, though, I haven't used Notepad++ in 10 years and not that much even then so I don't have a real base for comparison. It's probably a very good editor since so many people around here seem satisfied with it.

I started programming very recently and done it in Komodo Edit which I found to be great however after trying Sublime I intend to stay with it. Sublime is really nice and easily beats other editors.

Notepad++. I have been told about others before but I've never really taken a look at them. Perhaps it's time to try out something new..

I've used np++ for years now, but as soon as I get back from my vacation and back to work I'm gonna give sublime a shot, the reason i like np++ is it's simplicity and how fast it is because of that (in opening and general use).

If that's your reason, let me tell you that Sublime's faster :)

I might have replied here before, or maybe it was another thread.
I use Notepad++ cuz its number 1 :)

If needed, I also use Editpad Pro

I recently needed to work on very large files and directory structures, and switched from Notepad++ to Sublime Text 2. I haven't looked back.

After reading this poll, seeing how ST2 was a clear winner, I had to try it out. Sleek design, quick workflow, userfriendly UI. I used to use Dreamweaver for placing objects correctly. Now I use sublime and Chrome's code inspector. I've become a lot more efficient and independant on shitty IDE's. :)

You guys do realise eventually you will need to pay to use Sublime, they just have no way of enforcing this yet (Says on their website).

NotePad++ is a personal favourite as I used it when I started programming and like the syntax highlighter.

That is not an issue for me since I've already purchased it.
I can't even imagine programming without sublime and all the macros anymore!

It's a lot of money though when you consider the number of free editors out there
