Xtrap removal

Hi Everyone,

Okay so I was looking at the new Kpt client version 1.99.0 and trying to get it to work; however, I have been unsuccessful. I followed bobsobol’s post on disabling xtrap (http://forum.ragezone.com/f562/disabling-xtrap-requirement-pt-client-670412/#post5724234) ; however, that was unsuccessful since after the character selection screen the game.exe crashes due to a runtime error. The follow is a pic of the error:

The only procedure that I performed on the kpt 1990 exe was what is mentioned by Bobsobol in his post http://forum.ragezone.com/f562/disabling-xtrap-requirement-pt-client-670412/#post5724234 . The particular procedure that bob mentions occurs at the offset 005A82F0. So following the post, I put a “retn” at 005A82F0 and nop’ed the remaining instructions; that allowed me to login and reach the character selection screen. Upon selecting the character, the screen goes to loading, and after that I get the above runtime error.

The same thing happened with SheenBR’s release of Kpt 1988 client (http://forum.ragezone.com/f399/kpt-1988-a-712354/ ). So if anyone has working solutions on how to remove the rest of the xtrap reference to make the game functional, please do discuss and share .

I have also included a clean copy of the Kpt 1990 client as well so we are all on the same page . If need be, I can post up my edited Kpt 1990 exe as well for reference.

As bob points out, I have already done that method.

I have used that method combined with bob's, and it still crashes.

I have attached the Kpt 1990 that is modified with "retn" at 005A82F0 and "nop"ing of the instructions that follow; and the "nop"ing of calls to 005A82F0. They occur at

Those calls have been "nop"ed out as Gregory instructs in his tutorial, but the game still crashes and gives me the above error. You can download the file and try it for yourselves.

If I have done anything wrong, please do tell me :scared:.

IMHO, the more we document ways to disable XTrap, the more different ways they are going to use to stop us.

Don't document a new method until major change requires us changing clients.

Okay... for the record, updating Windows or any installation or configuration of Microsoft Office (XP or otherwise) is completely unrelated to this issue.

Not disabling XTrap will solve this problem... however, Osirus wants do remove / disable the use of XTrap without incurring it.

It is possible. But the more we document standard ways of doing so, the more complex Yedang are going to make the process.
