this error is most common on a 64bit setup, you have to run
"%SystemRoot%\SysWow64\odbcad32.exe"
and input your details manually for your muserver.

i've read that alot of people still suffer the same problem even when they do the 64b fix above. so here is how i run in 64bit

RUN YOUR SERVER AS ADMINISTRATOR.
to test this theory right click on your dataserver1 and click run as administrator(vista,7) or disable UAC in user controls in control panel. if you are using Muserver startup by skyteam dont forget to run that program as administrator aswell!! this is an easy fix for all the newbies to muserver creation. i hope i helped.

i would like for some assistance in getting my server up and running.
What I am facing at the moment is a problem with the GSDBSet ODBC Connect Fail and I can't explain why..? im using windows 7 32bit
check this

if you are using 32bit or a 64bit operating system the odbc is different.

for the 32bit you use the ODBCAD32.exe located in control panel and for 64but you have to search for ODBCAC32 in the SysWOW64 folder

follow Start > Control Panel > Administration > Data Sources (ODBC) > System DNS > MuOnline(all*, MU2003_EVENT_DB, USELOG ...) > Setting > Server > set (local)

may be i help ;)

All this made almost no sense whatsoever. You have to realise that people coming here are mostly noobs that don't understand these things. You have to go through things step by step.
