Well lets see, if you cannot afford to buy the game, I guess it makes it okay to simply get a 'free' copy? The point of this project is not to provide a free ride for all those who cannot 'afford' the game.

If it's not what you expected, well sorry. Chances of finding something that you're thinking of is slim to none - NCSoft would shut something like that down most likely before it even got going. Yes, they do notice things such as this in case you were wondering.

not exzactly.

To play on emu server, you must have an official acount.
they do like this coz Theora said he's trying to find a balance between all three parties. Which include the GWLP Team, ArenaNet, and whoever is interested in this project.

so i guess this is why they set official acount is required... it would be better to purchase the game, of course ,it isn't imperative

about emulator,it is more customizable and staled. LAN—unlock means lots to players.
maybe these original elements could make the game compare favourably with official GW :P

I agree with this statement. Seeing how Guildwars is a pay once game, it isn't that hard to just buy the game to play it.

The fact that this emu is being worked on is great. Even though you can't play online without an official key, there is so many different features that will make the game more fun and customizable for everyone. So just do yourselves a favor and buy the darn game. and if you oppose to paying a 30 dollar fee ONCE of the game, then make your own emu. Good job Theora, keep up the good work :D

I dont think they will make it so people can use pirated copies, I think if they did they would be looking at some legal actions tooken against them since NCsoft wouldnt be to happy that they are losing money. Im sure you could find some kind of work around the neighborhood to earn the money to buy the game while this EMU is being made.

what im wondering why cant someone just Ip forward a LAn into a IP address using a bridge there for bypassing his lan lock... form what it looks like his packets dont hold any information base on the lan lock and even if it trys to detect a gw account seems to easy to bypass with dll injection....

what a wast of time may as well play the real servers, if only i had the money...

well if some one dose have a dll or you know where to get one can you PM me where?

Shut up and learn to respect others' work.

So what if you can't get your fix of pirated games? It's a damn nice feat that he's even making an emulator, he doesn't have to cater to your needs simply because you refuse to buy the real version.

Honestly, I dont understand why people are complaining when Guild Wars has been out for 2 years now and its so cheap to buy the game nowadays. I dont understand how anyone wouldnt be able to afford it. Besides me ranting, everyone who is working on GWLP keep up the awesome work.

because at the end of the moth i get $5 out of my work..

you know if i could like "rich ppl" do i would by the game and play on the real servers and not wast my time...

so f you right back!

First off, great work on the emulator and keep it up.

Second...
my fix? refuse to buy the real version?

Yes, your fix, you continue to whine and complain that you can't play this game for free. The game is not free so you cant and will not play it for free.

I'm overly confident that everyone on these forums can read.
You will respect other's work if it works or not. And there have been numerous posts showing that this emulator does indeed work.

If you don't have the money stop complaining that you can't get it illeagally. At the end of the month you get 5$? Then apparently you must be 12 and have a **** allowance. None of us are rich, 30$ for a game is not expensive, especially one you can play online for free. Please refrain from posting in this thread since you obviously have nothing to add to the development of this project.

Beta Release: GWLPClient v1.0

Note: This is NOT a server release.

Readme.txt said:
1. What is this?

This software enables Guild Wars to connect to unofficial servers. Secondary functions include: server/account management, account creation, authorization, packet dump, and management of both a current copy of Guild Wars and an old copy.

2. Installing

You must have Guild Wars installed and up-to-date on your computer, preferably in the default directory. If you have a backup of gw.dat and gw.exe files from a previous installation of this software, see the Bundling section below.

When installing be sure you select your current Guild Wars directory for the location to install to. Also be sure that copy of Guild Wars is not currently being used. It may take some time depending on the size of your gw.dat file.

The client utility is finally finished. It is Windows only though and has only been tested on Window XP Pro SP2 and Home. As of now, the primary usefulness of this utility is auto-updating packet dump. The usage of the program is for the most part self explanatory. Please report any bugs discovered.

-----------------------

Progress report:
  • Services server: account creation and authorization work. Needs fixing to work in Release mode.
  • GWLPClient: All functionality is currently working properly. Needs heavy testing for bugs.
  • Shared logging class has been rewritten for the 3rd time and is now satisfactory and does not harbor horrible stack issue on Linux or Windows anymore.
  • Network class has been optimized and now supports IP bans.
  • The query subsystem has been redone to prevent queries from blocking the servers. Instead a new class has been created that can handle up to 4,200 SELECT queries per second without blocking the calling application. It utilizes multiple pipes and has a self-contained priority system.
  • The login server compiles and runs on Linux in addition to Windows.
  • No longer relying on an external hash library for hashing functions.
  • Tons of clean up of shared code has occurred, as well as many bug fixes.
Note: The game server is still broken. We aren't really in a rush to fix it manually. An automatic solution is being looked into. Excuse my crappy English, I'm dead tired.

Nice work, but connector with out server doesn't help much.
Thanks for release anyway

Thanks for the release, it's great that your sticking with it. Great job.

They can't do everything at one time, emulators take time and are hard to code.

The main point in releasing it is that it contains a version of packet dump that works with all Guild Wars builds from now on. We are working on getting a test login server and services server up, however, there is no EST for these yet.
