Setup For Ro2

er ..i dl (svn) new vers, 70 and compile all with 0 error.. ,so hurra,my first comiling ever ha ha
but wat my next doing for it, i seen BINARY folder contains now files but also in / AUTH /GATE / MAP /
seen new BIN folder.. so from what i have to set my server and to start it already..

pls HELPPPPPPP

*** i try to start as from binary in main folder but MAP fifen always 4 error.....grrrrrr


Hiya heya all!

It appears I got the same problem. Whenever I try to start Saga.Map it says there are 4 errors and that's it. If I try to type 'help' the window shuts down. I'm using Saga REV 75 with the database provided in this thread, MySQL 5.1, Navicat Lite and the WhiteNET client. It also won't let me login, keeps saying it's connecting forever (not sure if you can even get past login screen with the map server not functioning). I created the account in the auth window and it's in the database (so at least that works, haha). Any idea what that could be? Help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated~!

The 2 German errors basically say that so-and-so is no valid Win32 application, no clue what all that is about though. I'm on Windows 7 64-bit if that helps any.

Did you compile on that computer, if so that would be your problem.... compile on an x86 system NOT x64.

The archive I downloaded contained both sources and binaries. I used the binaries as they were plus configuration upon first start etc. Even if I wanted to compile the sources, Visual C++ 2008 Express tells me it couldn't open .csproj files. And as far as I can see, checking with notepad, it was made with the 2008 version. So uh...no clue.

On the other hand, the Legacy version I got works flawlessly with the same SQL programs / client, but yea...it appears to be rather limited.


EDIT: Oh YggRO2, I happen to run around there and it caught my interest once again after a year or two. Pretty solid work! *waves*

Not sure why you cannot compile using express, but either way you cannot compile on an x64 system, likely what you got was not a correct trunk... and you don't need to open any project files to compile, but setup a .bat and doing some other things.

Yes legacy is very limited and does not like a newer REV client, and that which was why I chose to work on REV for YggRO2 though Ygg will have it's 1 year anniversary 9/3/2010.

Oh okay...guess there's not too much I can do then. It's not very dramatic, just attempting to save this surprisingly pretty world should it ever completely disappear (there's never been many RO2 servers to begin with, and YggRO2 is my second after EuphRO2). So it's more for private use and not for public.

Also I'm not overly good with these things. I used to compile RO stuffs ages ago when Yare and the original Athena were still around. But that was completely different and everything was 32-bit anyway.

The main problem is that it's very tricky to find Saga downloads, this place is full of dead links. REV 75 seems to be the latest, but if I can't run it on my 64-bit OS or if it's been compiled in a messy way there's not much of a point, unless I find binaries that would run on my machine. Very sad, but I give you my gratitude anyway. Maybe somebody will know a solution still.

You can RUN the binaries on your machine just fine, their trunk is still active... Just download it there, find an x86 machine to compile it on and you're set. Most RO2 servers have used legacy since it was "less buggy" and thus required far less work to set up a server and not do much with it. There haven't been many servers period due to how the game was so poorly designed and abandoned. Trying to fix issues with very limited access to the client (HP cap at 65,535 which is a CLIENT issue) that had to be worked around, making a new map from scratch also takes a while when I only have 1-2 hours a day to work on it.

Edit: Ok i manage to download a ro client from some torrent sites, the thing is can anyone upload ur bat.file for me? or give a code? i know how to make a bat file in rose only :/

Edit: Ok i got my Server Running Smooth with no Problems altough i used my Other Comp as the database.. And how do i make npc's language to English >.<????

I dont know what's wrong but, i had my RO2 CLient Running on my Own server in lan,. but when i tried to visit ro2 official web my browser freezes and this anhlab online protection thing buffs on my screen and after that my Client wont run anymore it says something about a hacksheild error im not sure its in korean language, i made quite a research and i found out it is caused by my firewall or other protection software, but i have all my antivirus and all turn off, i also checked that my rag11.exe port is not blocked.. still cant run my Ro2 CLient its been a week since im working on this again just to make it work jsut like b4, i cursed that anhlab online protection thing from kro2.co.kor dont ever visit this site if ur running ur own server.

npc's are CLIENT data, most of everything is client side not server side. Hackshield errors mean many things... you need to post actual information.

I downloaded Download revs_cleanFORUL.zip, compiled it and tried to run.
It cannot find quest plugin for some reason. Any ideas on fixing it?
Win7(x64), MSVS 2008.

you cannot compile on an x64 platform, you have to compile on x86 due to the lua issue.
