About Perfect World Help

Troubleshooting for Perfect World server owners across 1.4.5, 1.5.1, 1.4.6, 1.4.4, 1.5.3, v80, 1.5.5, 1.3.6 and 1.4.7 - connection errors, database problems, client crashes and configuration mistakes.

Most problems posted here come down to a handful of causes: the client pointing at the wrong address, a database the server cannot reach, a missing runtime library, or a port that was never opened. Search before posting - the same Perfect World errors come up often and usually already have an answer.

Perfect World private server files, setup guides and emulator sources span 2007 to 2026. Recurring bases include 1.3.6, 1.5.1, 1.4.2, 1.4.4, 1.4.5, 1.4.6, 1.5.3 and 1.5.5, with builds v69, v70, v80, v101 and v156. Named sets: The Complete PW Package, PURE Perfect World 1.5.3, PW 155 Out of the Box, and PWI server source up to 1.5.3, compiled on Red Hat. Setups run Debian or Ubuntu with Apache, MySQL, PHP, phpMyAdmin and a Java runtime, fronted by pwAdmin, iweb, CPW or MyWeb; non-Linux hosts use VirtualBox, VMware or coLinux images. Data sits in elements.data, tasks.data, gshop.data and .pck, edited with sELedit and Gshop Editor; x64 installs need i386 libraries.

Common questions

Why will my Perfect World client not connect to the server?
Nearly always the address the client is pointed at. On many builds the server address sits inside a packed client file rather than a plain text config, so it has to be edited there. Check as well that the server is listening and the port is actually open.
Why will my Perfect World server not start?
Usually a database it cannot log in to, a missing runtime, or a port already in use by something else. The server console or log normally names the cause on the first failure, and the processes often have to be started in a particular order.
How do I get a useful answer about Perfect World here?
Post the Perfect World build you are running, the file set you used, the exact error text and what you have already tried. Threads with that detail get answered; vague ones usually do not.
