I cant wait for this to be released bcuz I dont have internet anymore and wont have it for awhile so I cant play this great game online, but a a lan-locked emu with player created content is like a dream come true. So many possibilities in mind.. Thnx and keep up this awesome work!

Hmmm...the LAN-lock may or may not be implemented. The LAN-lock does encourage buying the game if your preferred play style involves a large community...that is until it gets cracked. Which would probably only take a day or two. Then whoever releases a real crack may or may not include malicious code with it. There is also the possibility of fake cracks spreading and affecting legitimate owners of the game who desired to host their own server for them and their friends. Then there is the possible flood of bug reports that could possibly be caused by a crack. Not to mention the general disdain received from the community for such a harsh restriction.

The two appeasement solutions are these. 1. Don't release it. 2. Release it without restrictions. Any suggestions would be welcome. The goal is to find the middle ground.

Anyway, items are currently giving us hell. >< There are about 12 bytes that store information. How much information is packed into each byte is unknown. Except for the rarity byte which controls the identified status, two-handed, and item text color(gold,purple,blue...green is handled by another byte).

We have not been able to figure out how these options are decided by the values. It's not bitwise. Here is the current data we have on this byte.

Code:
------------------------------------------------------
Value | Identified | Color | One-Handed | Two-handed |
------|------------|-------|------------|------------|
0x70 | No | blue | yes | no |
------|------------|-------|------------|------------|
0xC0 | No | purp | yes | no |
------|------------|-------|------------|------------|
0x8F | No | gold | yes | no |
------|------------|-------|------------|------------|
0xA0 | No | blue | no | yes |
------|------------|-------|------------|------------|
0xE0 | No | purp | no | yes |
------|------------|-------|------------|------------|
0xBE | No | gold | no | yes |
------|------------|-------|------------|------------|
0x40 | Yes | purp | yes | no |
------|------------|-------|------------|------------|
0x0F | Yes | gold | yes | no |
------|------------|-------|------------|------------|
0x? | Yes | auto | yes | no |
------|------------|-------|------------|------------|
0x30 | Yes | blue | no | yes |
------|------------|-------|------------|------------|
0x63 | Yes | gold | no | yes |
------|------------|-------|------------|------------|
0x60 | Yes | purp | no | yes |
------|------------|-------|------------|------------|
If anyone who is bored or whatever can figure this out. We would greatly appreciate it.

Do what you feel is right Theora. You started the project, and you're the founder. I had the same problem with Rose and closed/open source. I mean to be honest, it's so had to find out what you want to do... It makes things too complicated. I'm pretty sure you could make the right decision though. Keep at it man, you've got the brains and the brawn.

release it without restrictions as opensource how emus are meant to be... an emu is supposed to be a community project, not a solo thing... leave it up to ppl what they want to do.

Since very few read our forums(which is fine since there is not much there) I'll post this here.

scottgl has been working on proper character movement. This is his screen. xD

Awesome Theora, keep it up!

Theora is that a girl or boy's name, just woudering...(plz that no offecne)
