Welcome to Pokémon NXT MMO, an independent multiplayer Pokémon project built around exploration, catching, battling, progression, trading, persistent characters and dedicated online worlds.
This release contains the complete current Alpha source for both the Server and Client, including the gameplay content, maps, Pokémon data, battle systems, multiplayer systems, audio, build tools, administrative tools and supporting documentation required to build and host your own NXT world.
If you enjoy Pokémon MMOs, running your own game server, experimenting with source code or building your own community, this release is designed to give you a serious foundation to work from.
What Is Pokémon NXT?
Pokémon NXT takes classic Pokémon-style exploration and turns it into a persistent multiplayer world.Create an account, choose your region and starter, explore the world alongside other players, catch Pokémon, battle trainers and Gym Leaders, build your collection, trade with other trainers and continue your character progression between sessions.
The current Alpha includes content based around Kanto and Johto/Sigma, with hundreds of maps and a large amount of native Pokémon data already integrated.
This is not simply a battle demo.
It is a functioning multiplayer Alpha containing a real Client, dedicated Server, persistent accounts, progression, exploration, battles, Pokémon ownership and server administration.

Autonomous Trainers
Pokémon NXT MMO features a persistent population of 2,000 autonomous AI trainers living throughout Kanto and Johto/Sigma.
These trainers behave much like real players. They travel between suitable routes, caves and wild areas, battle and capture Pokémon, train and improve their real parties, move through the world with their lead Pokémon following them, and compete against other trainers in ranked battles.
Their progress continues persistently over time, allowing individual AI trainers to grow from inexperienced newcomers into powerful high-ranked rivals. Players can encounter them naturally in the world, challenge them directly, track their activity, follow the competitive ladder, and build rivalries with trainers they meet repeatedly.
The result is a more active MMO world that continues to develop even when human players are offline.

- Python
- MySQL credentials
- Original Pokémon ROM files
Complete Source Build
A complete all in one compiler cmd bat that downloads required dependencies needed then builds the server and client.
run it on your desired server PC:
BUILD_ALL.bat
Automatic Windows Build System
BUILD_ALL.bat handles the normal Windows x64 build pipeline. It can automatically:
- Locate Python
- Download supported Python when required
- Locate Go
- Download supported Go when required
- Install isolated pinned dependencies
- Validate project content
- Run regression tests
- Build the Client
- Build the Server
- Package the resulting distributions
- Produce build metadata
- Produce integrity information
dist/build-<timestamp>
No Chocolatey or winget dependency is required by the normal bootstrap process.
Administrator elevation is not intended to be required for the standard build.
First-Time Server Setup
For a fresh server:- Download all four source parts.
- Extract them into the same folder.
- Run BUILD_ALL.bat.
- Follow Docs/QUICK_START.md.
- Configure the MySQL database.
- Configure your world.
- Configure online hosting if required.
- Start the Server.
- Give your players the matching Client build.
Docs/ONLINE_HOSTING.md
The Server package also contains tools for creating or importing the required certificate and exporting a public Client connection kit.
Updating An Existing Server
Do not casually overwrite a working live deployment. Before updating:
- Stop the existing Server.
- Back up the database.
- Back up your configured Server deployment.
- Build the new source into a fresh location.
- Preserve your existing configuration and certificates.
- Deploy the matching updated Client and Server together.
Documentation
The source contains detailed project documentation covering areas such as:- Quick Start

- Administrator Console
- Pokémon Varieties
- Regional Encounters
- HM Cut

Alpha Means Alpha
This is the complete source release of the current Pokémon NXT Alpha. That does not mean every mechanic from every original Pokémon game has already been recreated.
The project does not currently claim complete support for every:
- Original story script
- Puzzle
- Ability
- Held-item effect
- Move effect
- Evolution condition
- Breeding mechanic
- Battle animation
- Special malformed ROM behavior
Missing or unsupported source data is intentionally documented rather than being disguised as authentic behavior.
This is a foundation that can continue growing.
ROM / Asset Notice
The original ROM files are not included in this release. The normal published source build does not require the original ROM files.
The project contains ROM-derived maps, art, audio and supported gameplay data that have already been prepared for the NXT content package.
Asset provenance and existing third-party notices are included in the documentation.
