hi peeps n peepesseseseses
make sure you have the right client for the server you are using... get the wrong one and you tend to get connection closed.
i've finally sussed out and got TD's files running.. wahoo.
i shall now shed the info
the m$ sql was the problem, for them poor soles, that includes me, that dont run windows server (server 2000, server 2003, develop *i think)) you cant use sql 2005 enterprise. I have machines running win xp pro - home and media editions, and took a while to sort it.
express 2005 is the freebee but it is very very restrictive, 1 cpu and lots of limits.. well its their hook thing, get you to buy standard. The only one i had luck with was sql 2005 standard, and it runs like a dream. This supports xp.
According to m$ website they dont have any intentions in taking sql to Vista!!
For those beginners, along with the original client you are going to need more files... the map files from the 1.9 download doesnt have them all and the data files are the same.
I'm having probs with the data files as over 3 different client setups, the all use different data. The best i've seen if what i used with ragezone thanks Mental..
If you can move over to sql, then adding maps etc is a doddle, no messing with text editors.
I forget the last post... it's a little confusing gamegate and rungate, it mentions game but use the rungate.
