About Dragon Nest Help

Troubleshooting for Dragon Nest server owners across v246 - connection errors, database problems, client crashes and configuration mistakes.

Most problems posted here come down to a handful of causes: the client pointing at the wrong address, a database the server cannot reach, a missing runtime library, or a port that was never opened. Search before posting - the same Dragon Nest errors come up often and usually already have an answer.

Dragon Nest private server files circulate as server, database, client and GameRes packs, often as VMware images. Builds are named by version - v133, v271, v273, v333, v335, v2126, v2194, 559, 574 - and by level cap: 70 cap, 80 cap, 95EX. Setup wants x64, 8GB RAM, SQL Server and XAMPP webfiles; CreateDB, port and SQL connection failures recur. v2194 omits GameRes, tested on SEA v403 and China v337-350. Client editing uses .pak and .dnt tools: DNPacker, PakPack, QuickBMS, DNT converters. Some builds are Enigma packed or SafEngine Netlicensor protected and HWID-bound. Dragon Nest Mobile 1.5.461 runs on CentOS; source code exists for the PC game and Dragon Nest M.

Common questions

Why will my Dragon Nest client not connect to the server?
Nearly always the address the client is pointed at. On many builds the server address sits inside a packed client file rather than a plain text config, so it has to be edited there. Check as well that the server is listening and the port is actually open.
Why will my Dragon Nest server not start?
Usually a database it cannot log in to, a missing runtime, or a port already in use by something else. The server console or log normally names the cause on the first failure, and the processes often have to be started in a particular order.
How do I get a useful answer about Dragon Nest here?
Post the Dragon Nest build you are running, the file set you used, the exact error text and what you have already tried. Threads with that detail get answered; vague ones usually do not.
