Re: [Development] Project VANADIS
No, the quote above sums up this section. Have you ever noticed there are not halve as many "leechers" as you haters? You have discouraged any normal user who just wanted to play Flyff. You always criticise those "leechers" not noticing that you are not less egoistic. You want to keep everything for yourself because anyone around you could be a "leecher": A noob who is opening scary noob servers which are so dangerous for your honor. Why do you care about noobs "stealing" your work? If you really do, you should not have released it in any way. Like those laughable "emulators" called Osa or Rhisis which go closed source because of a single person treating Osa like his own work. You bootlickers are only contributing to any stupid project by spamming "Good luck" in threads like this one. You do not even see the difference between a promising project and a fail. Most of you do not know anything about programming (hmm, just like the "leechers"), but act like being Stroustrup himself. You are not respecting other's points of view because you cannot undergird your arguments with facts. Leechers have to be wrong because they are leechers. Noobs are noobish because they are noobs. Everyone who uses someone's work is a leecher. You forget that this is a public community for exchanging thoughts and - of course - work. It only works if someone contributes by releasing something. But you cannot expect that everyone has something to release. Most of the people are just consumers - and children. You are forgetting that Flyff is a game for children. They do not want to damage anyone, they want to have fun. And they try out things. They make mistakes like stealing other's work, but that does not make them necessarily "leechers". Maybe they do not know how much work was behind an emulator. Did I mention that most of them are just children? If you only changed your attitude, everything here would be easier. A real developer is happy when someone uses his work. If the users are ungrateful, they are. Developing is not about receiving "thank you" or "good luck" as often as possible. If your work is really good, you will get compliments from the right people. Why do you want so much appreciation from the "leechers" you hate secretly? You should be above begging for appreciation if you are no noob.
Of course you won't understand my point of view. You can pick at me now, but that won't change the truth from being the truth.
Um....I was once a leecher myself, as were 99% of us. So, get your facts straight.
As a leecher, I thought everything should just be handed to me. I hated the people who said that I was a "leecher" and always thought they were "mean" because they wouldn't give me what they worked for. Everyone who looked down on my behavior I despised so that I could feel justified. Sound familiar?
Then I got older and began to understand intellectual property. If I code something, I have a right to claim it as my own. I don't have to share because I worked for it. I owe this community nothing, just as it owes nothing to me. There is a certain element of trust that comes with sharing work. Trust that someone else won't claim your work as their own, trust that people won't take your source code, change 5-10 lines, and claim it as their own project which they coded "100%" from the ground up.
Not everyone has to be a dev. That will never be the case. You can help a project by bug testing for them almost as much as you can help them by coding with them. Projects die because people leech (meaning, they don't try to give anything back and don't try to help). That's not too much for a coder to ask for.
Your behavior's fitting into that category of leeching btw. Throwing a temper tantrum over the internet because you can't get you way (no one who has the source is gonna give it to you, quit whining and move on with your life).
How about you calm down and stop trying to start a flame war, k? Act your age, not your shoe size.
Still I don't think its smart to release it (ofc. I also want to have it for information)
For the people who want to have it search it I'm already trying to.
Yay, someone's actually doing something for themselves instead of sitting around on their ass whining about not having the files. Good for you <:
